RULES
Our league rules are designed to keep the game safe, fair, competitive, and fun for everyone. We ask all players to know the rules, respect the officials and their opponents, and help maintain the spirit of the game every time they step on the ice.

Our league is built around exercise, fun, and sportsmanship, with the safety and enjoyment of every player always coming first.
TORONTO HOCKEY SHTICKS LEAGUE RULES
1. No centre ice.
2. Games will consist of 2 x 18-minute periods.
3. Penalties = 2 minutes of running time.
4. If there is a 4 goal or more differential in the game score, the clock will run during the last 2 minutes of the game.
5. Fighting (gloves on or off) = EXPULSION from the league.
6. Any player using his stick with the intent to injure, as judged by the referee during or after a game, or by the Executives during a game review is automatically EXPELLED from the League.
7. There will be a minor penalty for any player who has his stick above his shoulder at any time.
8. Game Ejections:
a) 4 x penalties in one game = the player is ejected from that game and the NEXT scheduled game. (Alternate player sits in penalty box for FOURTH penalty.)
b) If a player receives an ejection or misconduct, they are then suspended for the NEXT scheduled game.
9. 5 x players plus a goalie constitutes a team. Anything less is a default. Games can start without the goalie. If the goalie does not arrive on the ice, the game shall be defaulted. The game will be an exhibition game only, and will not count in the official standings, resulting in a score of 5-0 for the non-default team. Referees will be on the ice for defaulted games and until all players leave the ice for their respective dressing rooms.
10. Teams can use players from any other team or a spare goalie to make up an official game. Five skaters must be from the same roster.
11. The Executives will, at their discretion, alter any teams, at any time, to make the league (teams) balanced.
12. ALL PLAYERS SHALL BE ADVISED OF THIS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR!
13. No non-roster players will be allowed into the League without prior consent from the Executives, under any circumstances.
14. Wrist shots and snap shots ONLY are allowed. The stick cannot go above the knee on the back-swing.
15. Helmets and visors, in proper position, must be worn at all times on the ice. Visors must cover the eye area.
16. Any verbal abuse (vulgarity) to any officials during a game, as deemed by the referee, will result in a minor or major penalty.
17. Team reps are responsible for the dressing room keys.
18. There should be NO consuming of alcoholic beverages or smoking in the arena.
19. There are NO refunds.
